KING OF SPORT WINNER - 2010
With several players going into the final round all in with a chance of claiming this year's crown, it really could not have been tighter. A late and unfortunate withdrawal for challenger Chris Loughlin put an end to his hopes and that cleared the way for the remaining competitors. Leader Darren Dixon struggled from start to finish and his dismal combined score of 94 saw him come last in this event. He did however manage to hang on to the money places and he finished the overall competition in 3rd, with a combined total of 19 points. Taking the 10-Pin bowling event by storm with a score of 240 was Graham Hacking. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for him to take the crown so he had to settle for 2nd place with 22 points. Taking the title therefore, and this year's honour of being named the Norris Green FC King of Sport for 2010, was none other than Shane Neeson. His 2nd place score of 212 in the bowling was enough to finish top of the KOS leaderboard by 3 points with a total of 25. Congratulations to Shane and commiserations to the rest! For the full details, please visit the KING OF SPORT page.
SEASON FINISH
The A Team season came to a close last Saturday (8th May) with a double header against Meols. The 0-0 draw and 4-3 win means Norris Green A finish their first season in Division One in a respectable 8th place. Resepctable, given their traumatic opening half of the campaign which saw them temporarily in 12th place (last). With a couple of new signings though, performances improved in the New Year and the team went on a great run which saw them move out of the relegation zone and into Division One saftey with games to spare. A tremendous effort by all the lads and it should give them real hope for next season. Congratulations to all involved!
SEASON WIND DOWN
WIth the B Team season over and the A Team fulfilling their remaining fixtures, attention will soon turn to the annual King of Sport event (4 events this year) and the end of season Presentation Night.
.
The season will finish for summer at the end of May and pre-season will begin on the first Tuesday in July. Events as follows:

Tue 25 May 2010 - AGM - all players/club members to attend
Fri 28 May 2010 - A Team v B Team (see below), followed by Presentation Night.
.
This new annual match will take place at the end of every season prior to that season's Presentation Night and will be in memory of the late DIxie Arrowsmith, our B Team player who sadly passed away this year. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team and this will be passed over year on year. This season's game will take place at the Merseyside Police Club at Fairfield (Prescot Road) with a 6.30pm kick-off. The Presentation Night will take place straight after at the same venue. Everybody is welcome to come along and entry to both the game and the evening is free. All we ask is that you let the committee know if you plan to bring anyone so we can gauge numbers.
B TEAM COMPLETE DEBUT SEASON
Congratulations to the new B Team on completing their first season in the Merseyside Christian League. Whilst the overall league position was perhaps not as high as we would have liked, the very fact the we completed the whole season after all the early pre-season worries of whether or not it would go ahead, and with a squad of 20 players at the end, is a fantsastic achievement and gives us real hope for next season. The squad is looking quite strong now and with a decent pre-season there is optimism that next year can bring some form of success to the club.

Anyone arriving late will run the risk of missing out as teams will have already been picked - so get there early! It is expected that training at Peter Lloyd will run now until sometime in the Spring.

The new team, Norris Green B, will start off in Division Three and will be managed by new manager Danny Murphy. Best of luck to both teams as they emabark on an exciting new campaign!
KING OF SPORT WINNER - 2009
After a tense final round of the King of Sport competition for 2009, tournament leader Alan Roberts manages to hold off the challenge of both Craig Masters and Craig Wakerley, despite losing to the former in the early rounds, to claim this year's crown. Victory in this round went to Andy Paton, Andy was also the winner in the previous round and should really have been vying for top spot. Maybe next year perhaps? Well done to all the players. For full details please visit the KING OF SPORT page.

The last match of the season between Frontline and Anfield ended in a 4-0 victory for the away side which ensures Norris Green finish the season as runners-up and they will now ply their trade in the First Division next season. Congratulations to all the lads for their efforts these past 12 months! A thoroughly deserved outcome!
FORTHCOMING EVENTS
These details have been moved to the EVENTS page.

1. Pool
2. Table Tennis
3. Darts

Points in all competitions will be scored as follows:
1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 5 points
5th - 4 points
6th - 3 points
7th - 2 points
8th - 1 point
The highest points scorer after all 5 events will be crowned "King of Sport 2009" and the winner will be presented with the trophy at the Presentation Night. Other prizes will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Best of luck lads!
SEASON FINISHED - PROMOTION POSSIBLE?
Having started the year in 1st place and with only a handful of wins required, the season finished on Saturday on a somewhat disappointing note. Having suffered a couple of defeats lately, Norris Green needed a win against leaders Trinity to have any chance of winning the title. The home side seemed to dominate most of the second half but were unable to convert any of their chances. Trinity, however, scored midway through this period and took the game 1-0 and along with it the title - so congratulations go out to them and Norris Green wish them all the best next season in Division One. Norris Green FC currently lie 2nd but await the outcome of the Frontline/Anfield game in 2 weeks time to see where they end up. Frontline must win this game, their last, to take 2nd spot and the final promotion place ahead of Norris Green.

NORRIS GREEN FC REACH FINAL OF UMBRO CUP (UMBRO DYNAMIS COMPETITION 1)
A superb effort on Day 2 of the Umbro Cup tournament sees Norris Green FC reach their first ever Cup Final. Unfortunately, the team ran out of steam in the final game itself going down 4-1 to a well organised Brooklands team from Manchester. After the ups and downs of the previous day, a more settled side was selected for Day 2 and the team deserved their place in the final after some fine performances along the way. All the players should be proud of their achivements. See FIXTURES AND RESULTS for more details.
LAST GASP EQUALISER DENIES NORRIS GREEN OVERNIGHT LEAD
An injury time goal in the final group game of the day denies Norris Green FC overnight top spot in the Umbro Cup (Group 2, League B). After a terrible start, Norris Green got their act together and that last minute equaliser against them means they go into day 2 in 3rd place, level on points with 2nd and just 1 point off the leaders. See FIXTURES AND RESULTS for details.
UMBRO CUP FIXTURES AVAILABLE
The fixtures for this weekend's Umbro Cup are now available (see their website http://www.umbrocup.com for details). Norris Green FC have been drawn in Group 2 League B against 4 unknown teams; Dilke Celtic, Rocca Juniors, Hamilton Park and West Manchester.

SKY SPORTS BREAKING NEWS - KEEPER CONFIRMED!!!
Norris Green FC today completed the signing of goalkeeper Craig Masters for an undisclosed fee. The news will come as a relief not only to the manager but also to the rest of the squad who were worried that the manager was going to don his goalie gloves and keep nets himself.
The capture of the experienced goalkeeper comes after a 2 month long search with manager Alan Roberts commenting "It is a relief to sign someone of Craig's stature and ability. That said, I remember him being a bit xxxx from the last time I played with him. Also he's a bit small I seem to remember and I can't actually remember him to be honest, I couldn't pick him out in a line-up. Anyway, it's better than no-one so beggars can't be choosers eh".
Craig is away for the next 2 weeks so hopes to be unveiled during the team's first friendly in Newark on 02 Aug.
